Philosophy

We believe in a strong work life balance, caring for every animal as our own, and giving back to the community in which we serve.

Expertise

Whether working at Catoctin Veterinary Clinic as a seasoned veterinarian or just out of school, we offer our associates the opportunity to excel as veterinarians.

Loudoun County

A dynamic county nestled 25 miles outside of Washington, DC., Loudoun is known for its beautiful scenery, rich history, healthy businesses, high quality public services and comfortable living.

Philosphy

Whether working at Catoctin Veterinary Clinic as a seasoned veterinarian or just out of school, we offer our associates the opportunity to excel as veterinarians while maintaining a good work life balance and helping the community.  For seasoned veterinarians, we allow them flexibility to help owners make the best decisions for their pets while providing substantial technician and assistant support as well as up to date equipment.  For new veterinarians, we have a mentor program that will help them develop into proficient veterinarians and serve as a basis for their career.  We have a full time practice manager to free up veterinarians to practice medicine as well as a full time office manager to tackle those special projects that need to get done.

One of the things that always bothered Dr. Robbins, as an associate, was the inability to help patients who had fixable problems, but instead would be euthanized, or suffer needlessly, because of the owner’s financial constraints.  Because of this, we created a Pets in Need fund for our patients.   For every pet who is humanely euthanized at Catoctin, we contribute $20 to this fund to be used for those pets that need care at the clinic but the owner cannot afford it.  This fund is used for diagnostics, therapy or surgeries.  Any of the doctors can access this fund at any time to contribute to the care of a patient.  On average this allows us to provide $5,000 annually to the care of these pets, and allows us to be better doctors and people.

The care of the veterinarian’s pet is also important.  At Catoctin, pets are always allowed to accompany their parent to work and spend the day so they can be played with as a break, or brought out for a quick breather or walk.  We, in the industry, tend to have a deeper relationship with our pets and we want to support that relationship.  Veterinary care is also steeply discounted and any family or extended family who needs to bring in their pets to us also gets a discount.  We want you to feel good about providing care to those pets closest to you.

Seasoned Veterinarians

Loudoun County is an affluent community and because of this we can offer good compensation based on experience.  The work week never exceeds 40 hours and we have part time positions available as well.  Weekend hours are very limited and there is no on call. We offer health insurance, 401K with match, continuing education allowances and standard licensing fee reimbursement.  We also offer, on a case by case basis, a signing bonus to help with relocation costs, payment of student loans, etc.

Outside interests are encouraged and every veterinarian at Catoctin has a few including running, horseback riding, mountain bike riding, dog training, range shooting, golfing, wineries, exercise, travel, etc.   A good work-life balance is important for the day to day struggles we encounter as veterinarians and we understand that.   We allow some remote work as well if desired.  Outside continuing education is encouraged.

We also understand that there are different ways to do things and we support this, within reason.  We would also support any special areas of interest that would be beneficial to the practice as well.  We do want veterinarians who are looking to settle down for the long term as there is a lot of value in the relationships that develop between veterinarians, owners and pets.
